When can I test with a home pregnancy test ?

Implantation happens anywhere from 6 to 12 days after ovulation.  Shortly after implantation the levels of HCG (the hormone tested in a pregnancy test) will start to rise.  From the above chart you can see that levels of HCG can vary greatly among women.  When will your HCG levels be high enough to test on a home pregnancy test will be dependent upon how soon that you implant and how quickly your HCG levels rise.  Some women start testing as early as 8 days past ovulation although you would be better off waiting until 11 or 12 days past ovulation so that you don’t waste a test.  For some women who are pregnant the pregnancy test will not show positive until a few days after the menstrual period is due.  The average day for getting an early home pregnancy test result is 13 days past ovulation.

Common Home Pregnancy Tests  and their Sensitivities –

If you prefer to test early, you will be better off to use a very sensitive pregnancy test.  A pregnancy test that measures 20 mIU/ml will give you a sooner positive result than a pregnancy test that measures 100 mIU/ml.  Following are some common home pregnancy tests and the levels of HCG that they measure:
